Garden Treasures

I LOVE garden junk and I do mean junk....little treasures hiding and peaking from under the flowers and plants...old shoes & boots, broken flowerpots, wrought iron, etc. I dream of an old country garden with a little barn turned into a potting shed full of all my favorite things, surrounded by wildflowers. Don't ask what those favorite things are...I'm not quite sure yet. :) It's all in my head...somewhere...buried deep...still waiting to be born. :) :)

But for now, I still dream and still collect garden junk and tuck it away amongst my plants. I'm pretty sure I saw a flower fairy sitting on one of my tiny metal bicycles the other day.

Happy Gardening.

Kitten Capers

The babies are a little over two weeks old and boy are they growing. Momma Skippy is NOT being generous with her away time, so photo ops have been few and far between. In fact, I thought I had a great chance this morning....ran back inside and grabbed my camera, was just getting comfy and everything ready, coaxing cute little kittens to come closer when POOF out from under the umbrella comes this HUGE head and glaring eyes...MOMMA!!! She almost made me wet my pants and scared both me and the kittens...we all jumped. As you can see, I was only able to get a couple shots...but they are cute ones even under her watchful glare. :)

Enjoy!

Invincible Summer

In the midst of winter
I discovered there was
within me
an invincible
summer.

Country Bumpkin

For the most part, I'm a country girl. I love living in the country away from the hustle and bustle of the city...not that I don't like what the city has to offer...dining, shopping, cultural events...but the everyday happenings, I would much rather spend quietly at home surrounded by nature. The birds, deer, cows, sheep, skunks, raccoons, feral cats and a host of other critters that roam the pastures around my home.

This past weekend I've been busy around the yard getting everything ready for the summer...cleaning the flower beds..and boy do they need it. We adopted...or rather were adopted by a BLACK cat this past fall during the beautiful harvest moon close to Halloween. Now, some might be superstitious...black cat...Halloween...not me...I believe she brings good luck...although she has brought some nasty habits such as using the flower beds as litter boxes...and sleeping in the decks flower boxes...what's up with that...and eating non-stop. I digress...so cleaning flowerbeds not only of weeds...but of well....poo!!! I'm trying to come up with a way to keep Missy Poo Poo out of the flowerbeds in a humane way. She doesn't get it...flower beds...for flowers...pastures...for kitty poo!!!

So off I go to play in the dirt...so little time...so much more to do!!! I so love this time of the year!!!!!!!

It's Time to Wake Up!!!!!

Let me introduce the latest little dumpling to come out of the Apple Dumpling workshop, CUBBIE. I've been a bit hesitant to introduce this little guy because his features are a completely new look for me...his new nose shape, mohair sleepy eyelids and shy smiling mouth.

CUBBIE has been created using wonderfully soft curly mohair in a delicious chocolate color with coordinating wool felt on his chubby little paws. CUBBIE has been gently highlighted throughout his little body with subtle accents to enhance his sweet little Apple Dumpling good looks. CUBBIE stands tall and proud...that is when he's not trying to find a place to sleep...at approximately 12 inches. He has been stuff with polyfil and my own special heart-shaped muslin pouch stuffed to the brim with glass beads.

CUBBIE comes with his very own raggedy flannel quilt I made especially for him in lovely shades of yellow and brown. He just can't leave without it. He thinks it's always time to hibernate. Silly little cub.
CUBBIE is currently available for adoption. His adoption fee is $125 plus shipping. Thank you for peeking!!!
